About The Artist


Denycia Thompson

Denycia is a multidisciplinary artist and military Veteran born in Brooklyn, New York and based in Waterbury, CT. In 2018, she began her writing career with the publishing of Inexplicably Broken under the name Canaan Vera. After her first novel, she changed her name to D. Thom and became the creator of D. Thom Comics. 
As a filmmaker, she wrote, directed, and starred in The Lamb, and Scorched Earth, which was selected for the 2024 Lee Strasberg Film Festival. In her 2024 Off-Off Broadway theatre debut, she played the Nurse (Sue Wilcox) in Face Divided by Edward Allan Baker, directed by Suzanne Didonna of the Actor’s Studio. In the Spring of 2025, Denycia played multiple ensemble roles in her Off-Broadway debut in the production of Wedding Dress by Nelson Rodrigues, a Brazilian play directed and translated by Julia Burnier. For her graduating performance in at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, in March 2025, Denycia performed leading roles in the play Petrichor directed by Illana Stein.
Currently, Denycia is developing her first solo art exhibition titled Conflict: Self and the World (2026) — a visual storytelling of thirty abstract and mixed media works on canvas.
Denycia is a graduate of the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, where she studied Shakespeare, dance, and singing, alongside Method Acting.
